28 weeks

Sorry no picture this week…

How far along are you? 28 weeks (approximately 7 months)

Size of Baby: Chinese cabbage

Favorite Maternity clothes this week? Leggings and stretchy tight tops, which basically is anything super comfy!

Stretch marks? No

How’s your Sleep? Good. I was actually thinking about how much better my sleep has been this pregnancy vs. with Bode because it’s so much easier to sleep when it’s cold vs. hot outside!

Favorite moment this week? The realization that I only have 2 months left of work before maternity leave, definitely reassuring because its already starting to get hard to dress this bump every morning.

Do you miss anything? Back to missing sushi, I could seriously go for some sashimi.

Do you have any Food cravings? Sweets.

Anything making you Nauseas? No, but I have started getting afternoon ‘morning sickness’ again.

Mood? Well I guess it depends on what day of the week you ask but lately happy and relaxed.

What are you looking forward to? Having our nursery 100% completed. Just a few more finishing touches need to happen like new windows, paint, and shutters over the next few weeks and then I can start decorating… Plus I’m really anxious to reveal the name so hopefully that will happen in the next few weeks too!

How far along are you? 27 weeks (Welcome to the 3rd Trimester…)

Size of Baby:  Head of Cauliflower

Favorite Maternity clothes this week? I’ll tell you what’s NOT my favorite, my demi panel maternity pants, which are now starting to get really tight on my belly – more spandex please!

Stretch marks? No (thanks goodness!)

How’s your Sleep?  Good.

Favorite moment this week? I had another doctor appointment this week which is always nice to hear the heartbeat and have that connection to our baby, and in the 4D ultrasound she looked so much like her brother (cheeks, big lips, button nose).

Plus our nursery renovation has begun (see pictures below)!

Do you miss anything? Red Wine (once again terrible two’s make me miss my 1 glass in the evening, even though it’s been forever since I have even smelled a glass a wine!)

Do you have any Food cravings? Sweets.

Anything making you Nauseas? No aversions.

Mood?  Good

What are you looking forward to? I’m going to start buying some of the items I have been scoping out for the nursery including a glider, new (smaller) changing table, and some cute décor.  I was waiting till the nursery was completed so I can actually start setting things up in the room.

How far along are you? 26 weeks (6.5 months!)

Size of Baby:  English hothouse cucumber

Favorite Maternity clothes this week? Leggings and layers but it’s supposed to be in the high 70’s to low 80’s this weekend so I’ll get to wear dresses and flip flops this weekend!

Stretch marks? No, still using vitamin E oil though for protection

How’s your Sleep?  Good, but best when I get my workout in so I’ve really been trying to work out (even if it’s only for 20 minutes) every day.

Favorite moment this week? Talking to Bode about being a big boy and that his sister will be the new baby in the house.  I think this is actually a bittersweet moment because I’m not ready to let go of him being my baby.  While I don’t really want him to grow up, I think that these life changing moments will help shape him into the person he is going to be one day.  We have been talking up him going to preschool this year and he is so excited every day to remind us, “Bode gets to go to school one day!”  Typing those words just put a smile on my face to know he is that excited about school.  While I don’t want him to grow up too fast I would like these ‘terrible twos’ to pass by quickly because it’s really making everything we do with him difficult.  But I love him still and I love our conversations about him becoming a big brother.

Do you miss anything? My old clothes, I don’t plan on buying much more since I feel like I should be able to transition to dresses for the last 2 months.

Do you have any Food cravings? Breakfast foods and chocolate (because its Valentine’s Day/Week!)

Anything making you Nauseas? No aversions.

Mood?  Good and Bad, I’m starting to get the same mood swings I experienced in the 1st trimester (which of course I didn’t blog about because I started blogging at 20 weeks).  It might just be due to underlined stressed that there is only 3 ½ months till this baby arrives and I’m a little worried about all the changes that are going to go on.  One baby is already a lot of change for a couple, but having two kids is going to change a lot of the current dynamic we have in our family.  I’m very excited to be having this baby and for Bode to be able to grow up with a sister but I know we’ll have some growing pains in the beginning.  Just some of the things I’ve been thinking about which I feel have affected my mood, however I should know that most of what will happen is out of my control, but that doesn’t prevent me from thinking about it.

What are you looking forward to? Next week our nursery renovation (room addition) begins which is really exciting because I can finally start decorating the room and getting ready for baby girl!  I’ll post pictures next week of the progress…

25 weeks

How far along are you? 25 weeks

Size of Baby:  Rutabaga

Favorite Maternity clothes this week? I love my long black maxi skirt and actually attempted to go shopping and find more maxi’s but I might be too early in the season…

Stretch marks? None, I started using vitamin E oils just in case!

How’s your Sleep?  Good, I’ve been going to bed early lately because I’m so exhausted and can’t stay awake.

Favorite moment this week? Matt and I got a couples massage this past weekend and it was amazing, and so nice to have some alone time with my hubby.  I also took my glucose test and it looks like I passed it because I haven’t heard anything back from the doctor yet so that’s a good thing.

Do you miss anything? We went to a nice local restaurant for dinner on Saturday night and I wish I could have ordered a martini with dinner, but otherwise the food itself was delicious and I was fully satisfied by the end of the meal.

Do you have any Food cravings? Breakfast foods and strawberries with whipped cream (maybe because Valentine’s Day is around the corner).

Anything making you Nauseas? No aversions.

Mood?  Good!

What are you looking forward to? I’ve begun some nesting around the house, getting ready for our room addition to take place and of course our new little one to enter into the world.  I started organizing cupboards and throwing away unwanted items to make room for another person living in our home.  Organizing has to be one of my favorite things; it really relaxes me and makes me happy.

Do you miss anything? My energy {yawn}
Do you have any Food cravings? Continues to be breakfast foods… I’ve been thinking about this French Toast at a local eatery for weeks, my need to finally give into the craving this weekend!
Anything making you Nauseas? No aversions.
Mood? Good! We aren’t super busy in our life right now which makes it a lot easier for me to balance everything we do have going on.
What are you looking forward to? Warm weather and wearing spring dresses. I don’t want to buy too many more winter maternity clothes because before we know it the weather is going to change and that’s when I can wear dresses again. I can’t believe that once summer comes we are going to have another baby; this pregnancy is really flying by!

YAY Happy 100 Blog posts to me!!!

How far along are you? 23 weeks

Mood? Good, we have a mini family trip planned for the weekend to head down south to our favorite city – San Diego. I’m crossing my fingers for good weather, but either way I know we’ll have a good time!
What are you looking forward to? I’m looking forward to our weekend in San Diego. It was originally going to be an adult only vacation but when we started discussing it, Bode kept interrupting saying he wanted to go to San Diego. So we’ve decided to bring him with, however I’m praying we don’t regret it because he’s been so difficult lately. I know it’s just a phase he’s going through but it’s exhausting!

(Sorry for the blurry iphone picture, it was taken in our hotel room)

22 Weeks

How far along are you? 22 weeks

Size of Baby: The length of a spaghetti squash

Favorite Maternity clothes this week? Lots of layers including leggings, long sleeve shirts, scarves, and jackets (it’s been freezing here in So Cal!)

Stretch marks? none

How’s your Sleep? Good, I’ve been exhausted this past week so I’ve been getting lots of rest.

Favorite moment this week? I’m feeling more movement from baby girl but no kicks from the outside yet. She definitely doesn’t feel as active as Bode was which might be a good thing!

Do you miss anything? My waistline! I miss my regular jeans this week, I know I’ve got a long ways to go but this week got a little harder to accept the fact that its maternity clothes from now till May…

Do you have any Food cravings? Breakfast foods – eggs, French toast, waffles, bagels, bacon…

Anything making you Nauseas? No aversions.

Mood? Good.

What are you looking forward to? I’m looking forward to our name reveal sometime in the spring. We finally decided on the perfect name for our little girl. It will probably happen closer to my ‘Sprinkle’ in April but it feels good to be able to give this girl a name (even if it’s kept a secret for a few more months)!

Favorite moment this week? Going for a run (twice) outside with my toddler in the stroller, because I miss doing that and we haven’t done it in so long. But dang it was hard pushing a 30lb kid up a steep hill in a stroller, good thing wherever there’s an up-hill there’s also a down-hill! (haha)

Do you miss anything? I’m still missing my favorite raw sushi rolls and a nice glass of pinot noir or cabernet sauvignon

Do you have any Food cravings? Cuties/Clementines and chocolate

Anything making you Nauseas? No aversions

Mood? Good! I got back into my workout routine and that always brings extra endorphins, can’t wait to change the clocks in March and get a few extra hours of sunshine.

What are you looking forward to? Actually I’m trying to live in the moment as much as possible while I still can because I know in less than 5 months we will grow from a family of 3 to a family of 4. I want more than anything to make sure this transition is a smooth one for our toddler. So while I am thinking about planning for the baby and taking care of myself during this pregnancy, I’m also trying to take in all the moments of today because life goes way too fast!

Happy New Year!

Since it’s the time to start making resolutions (or reflecting on old ones) I got to thinking about how I’ve neglected this blog for the past 6-months.  Well it’s a new year and I think it’s time to start blogging again!

 Reflecting on 2012

This  past year was a great year, I grew a lot from 2011 as I learned to balance mommy and work life and I’m so proud to announce we are having a 2nd baby in May.  This will make our kids 2 years and 7 months apart.  We started the year off on a family vacation to Hawaii where we had the most amazing time staying in Maui, visiting Hana, playing at Baby Beach, biking down the volcano (minus the baby), and spending time with our parents and siblings.  This will not be the last time we plan to travel with our families; it was so nice to have built in babysitters so my husband and I could spend a few hours away.  In June, my husband and I drove north to Napa and went wine tasting as a pre-30th birthday vacation.  We have found that spending time alone (without family, friends, or baby) has really helped strengthen our relationship and such an amazing reminder that I married my best friend and partner for life.  In August we took another vacation to our favorite city – San Diego – to watch my sister-in-law play in a volleyball tournament at San Diego State University (our Alumni).  We took Bode and went down with my in-laws and some family friends.  It’s always a different experience traveling with a baby vs. just adults but we had an amazing time as usual in San Diego.  In October our ‘baby’ turned two-years old and we celebrated with a ‘Yo Gabba Gabba’ themed birthday party at our house.  It was a small, intimate event but I know Bode had a great time either way.  Speaking of Bode, as the holidays approached, we decided to transition him into the toddler bed.  Not because he was trying to climb out of his crib, but because we know that there are going to be lots of changes coming up in 2013 that we figured it would be a good time (while we were home for the holidays) to promote him from the crib to the bed.  It was a little rough at first because he rebelled by taking all of his clothes off for the first week, but after that week he seemed to really take pride in his big boy bed and we are happy we decided to make the transition.  We celebrated Christmas Eve with a Gender Reveal party announcing we were going to be having a GIRL and decided that that would also be a great time to announce our news to the (facebook) world as well.  We ended the year spending New Years at home as a family, watching the ball drop, and going to sleep minutes later.

 2013 a NEW year!

This upcoming year is going to be filled with lots of changes and that was one of the main reasons we decided to transition Bode to the toddler bed.  We know having a little sister is going to be a little rough at first especially because he is not only the only child but the only grandchild in both of our families.  We also plan to start potty training and preschool this year to give him more stimulation throughout the day.  We love our daycare and will send our daughter there when I go back to work but as Bode has become such an active little boy I think it will be best for him to start preschool sometime this year.  We have some big home improvements coming up, but the main one is our room addition where we will be taking our current loft and making it into a nursery for baby girl.  Additionally, my big boy will be turning 3 this fall and we’ve decided to take a mini family vacation to Disneyland instead of throwing a birthday party and have invited our families to join us in the festivities.  Also, once the baby is here, I’ll be working hard to get back into shape for the wedding of the year for two of our best friends – Manny and Michelle.  Both Matt (my husband) and I are in the wedding party and Bode will be participating as the ring bearer.  We’re also looking forward to lots of babies in 2013, some older and some younger than baby girl.  Lots to look forward to this year!

I know I probably don’t have many readers out there but I do hope to be more consistent with blogging and talking about this pregnancy starting as soon as tomorrow…  I will be doing my first weekly pregnancy photo and questionnaire when I hit the half-way point at 20 weeks – woohoo!  Even if I don’t have many readers out there it will at least be nice to reflect on this time in our lives when we transitioned from a family of three to a family of four.
